Linking to a PDF Document or Other Document

 

A PDF, Word, Excel, PowerPoint or other document that is stored in another location, for example QShare, or on the WebPublish Server can be linked to.  Since the WebPublish server has limited space, if possible consider hosting your document in an alternate place.  The only requirement is that the file be available 24 x 7.  To upload your file to the WebPublish server, follow these steps:

 

  1. In WebPublish create the text that will become the link to your document. 
    • Select the text to highlight it
    • Click the Link button

  2. The Link screen will open
    • In the Link Type menu select URL
    • Click the Browse Server button

  3. The Server Folders will be displayed
    • Click the Files folder to select it

  4. Once selected you will be able to right mouse click and display the sub-menu
    • Select New Subfolder from the menu

  5. The New Name screen will open
    • Enter a Name for the folder
    • Click the OK button

  6. The Subfolder will be created
    • Click the subfolder to select it
    • Click the Upload tab to select it
    • Click the Add Files button

  7. Your personal computer's files will be displayed
    • locate the file you wish to upload
    • Select it
    • Click the Open button
    • The upload will begin

  8. The Subfolder screen will be displayed with your uploaded file
    • double click the file

  9. The Link screen will re-open
    • the file's URL will be inserted
    • Click the OK button

  10. Your Web Page will be displayed again
    • Your highlighted text is now a link.
    • Click the link to follow it.
