ITServices Desktop Assistant (Ida) 

 

Description: 

Ida (ITServices Desktop Assistant) retrieves, installs, configures, and updates some Windows applications in use at Queen's. When Ida installs a package it automates the process as much as possible. Ideally you confirm the installation and do nothing else until the job is finished. Expert users (or the merely paranoid) can demand more control over the process.

Please note: Ida is not supported on Windows 8. Consequently, the following alternative measures have been put into place:

  • Ida is no longer required for ResNet Activation
  • Antivirus software is no longer distributed through Ida. Please visit the Antivirus software page for more information. 
  • Ida is no longer required for the installation or configuration of Solid Edge.
  • Please visit the TSM Backup page for information on using TSM on Windows 8

IT Services Supported Platform:  32 bit and 64 bit Windows XP, Vista and Windows 7. Ida is NOT supported for Windows 8.   Some software can not be installed from Ida if it is not supported by the vendor for the given operating system.

- contains both the .NET2 install and the same Ida install as in Ida_Setup.exe


Windows Vista, Windows 7, or an XP user and have already installed Ida once before
