Changes to Tree Structure for New HR Department Codes 


New Human Resources department codes will come into effect when HR PeopleSoft goes live the weekend of February 17-20, 2012. This will impact users who own an application that uses the department code field, or those who use department codes to manage permissions in QShare or the Queen’s Wiki.


In November 2011, information about the new department code tree structure and a list of the new department codes was published. This information has changed.


Changes to Planned New Tree Structure


Since the original information about new department codes was published in November 2011, the following changes have been made:


  1. The number of new department codes has increased.
  2. The number of roll-up levels in the department code tree has changed. Formerly, there was a maximum of 5 roll-up levels; now, there can be an unlimited number.
  3. Membership can now exist at any level in the hierarchy. Formerly, only the lowest department code level was populated (had individual members in it).
