TSM for Mac: Scheduling Automatic Backups

1. In the Applications folder Open the Tivoli Storage Manager  folder 
   • Click the TSM Tools for Administrators.app
   
2. The TSM Tools for Administrators screen will open 
   • Select Tivoli Storage Manager
   • Click the OK button
   
3. Log into TSM
   •  From the Editmenu select Client Preferences  
   
4. The Preferences Editor will open.  On the Left hand menu select Scheduler.  The Scheduler Preferences screen will open 
   • In the Schedule Log section check the File Name of the log file.  By default it will be /Library/Logs/tivoli/tsm/dsmsched.log
   • Check the box beside Prune old entries
   • Select the number of days to Prune entries old than.  We suggest 14 days but it it your choice.
   
5. On the Left hand menu select Web Client.  The Web Client Preferences screen will open 
   •  Under Managed Services Options
     • Uncheck the box beside Web Client 
     • check the box beside Schedule
     • Click the OK button at the bottom of the screen

6. In the Applications folder re-open the Tivoli Storage Manager  folder 
   • Click the TSM Tools for Administrators.app
    
7. The TSM Tools for Administrators screen will open 
   • Select Start the Client Acceptor Daemon
   • Click the OKbutton
   
8. Depending on your Firewall rules you may be asked to accept incoming network connections 
   • Click the Allow button
   
9. The Security screen will open.  You will not be able to make any changes until you click the lock to allow changes. 
   • Click the lock to make changes.
   
10. The Firewall Security screen will now be accessible 
    • Click the radio button beside Set access for specific services and applications
    • Select dsmagent to Allow incoming connections
    • Close the preference window by clicking the red dot in the upper left hand corner
    
11. Once TSM is set up for scheduling you need to request what schedule you would like to be on.  Review the available schedules below and send an email to  winserv@queensu.ca . Scheduling groups are as follows:
    
    

    Daily	8am - 5 pm	weekdays
    After Midnight	00:00 - 10 am	any day of the week (please specify)
    Noon Hour	12:00 - 1:00pm	weekdays
