Queen's University Financial Services has adopted Chase Paymentech as it’s electronic payment service provider for departments and organizations on campus. This is a central service that websites can use to process online payments.
Web SecurePay, a service provided by Chase Paymentech, is a secure, encrypted transmission internet commerce product that provides the highest level of industry-standard security. Any Queen's department that takes credit card payments either by telephone or through a website that is set up to sell products or services can use this service. The diagram below illustrates how an online application would work with Web SecurePay from Chase:
First, a department must create a website with a shopping cart or registration form to collect the customer's purchase information. On the checkout or register page, the department will put a button that says "pay by credit card or Interac." The user will click that button and be linked to the SecurePay web page.
The Chase Web SecurePay web page will securely collect the payment information from the user, and pass that information over an encrypted web transmission to the payment processing gateway.
When the processing gateway either approves or declines the customer's payment, they pass that information back to the Web SecurePay website, where a receipt with an approved or declined message is displayed for the user. The Chase Web SecurePay website also sends the accept/decline information to the department website for its records. All of this transpires in about 3-5 seconds after the customer clicks the "submit" button.
Each evening, the day's sales will be deposited into the department's designated bank accounts. The department's administrators will have secure web-based access to the credit card processing service to view daily transactions, process manual sales or refunds, and produce reports.
Queen’s Departments currently using QPAY are encouraged to switch over to Chase Paymentech as it will soon be Queen’s only electronic payment service. If you are using QPAY then contact Kyle Amirault at Queen’s Information Technology Services about switching over to Chase Paymentech.
