What is the “From the Diversity to Inclusion in the Workplace” Certificate Training Program?
This program is designed to provide staff and faculty at Queen’s with valuable knowledge and skills to work and lead in an inclusive work environment. It seeks to engage Queen’s staff and faculty in conversations, discovery, and learning about diversity and equity principals and to provide resources, knowledge, and tools required to make Queen’s an inclusive campus.
Specifically, the certificate program offers participants, a theoretical framework for understanding equity and inclusion principles and concepts; helps participants develop necessary skills for equity and diversity work; and gives participants direct experience through interactive scenarios working and communicating across differences.
What Comprises the Certificate Program?
There are ten courses in the program which will be offered over twelve months. There are three course components to the program: six mandatory courses, two elective courses, and two online courses.
What is the First Course and When will it be Offered?
The certificate program began January 2013 and the first course “Human Rights, Queen’s, and You” took place January 14th, 2013 from 9-4pm. All courses will take place in the Centre of Teaching Learning, room B176.
Who is this Certificate Program For?
This course is open to all staff and faculty members at Queen’s University who are interested in furthering their understanding and learning of the importance of creating inclusive, responsive, and accessible workplaces within the university and beyond.
What is the Cost?
This learning opportunity is fully sponsored by the Equity and Human Rights Offices and the Human Resources Office with no cost to participants or departments.
