Artist's Statement

In my ongoing artistic practice, I am researching and exploring the concept of "discovery". I am fascinated by how the act of discovery is transformed by processes of gaining knowledge, unsettling norms, claiming possession, and building a sense of belonging to a place, to the self, and to others.

I believe that resilience and strength are achieved in large part through self-knowledge and with the support of people who we encounter at different stages of our lives. Moon Lady reflects the part of me that draws from a universal spirit, my reflexive practice, and from my own Earth-bound family and friends who inspire me and sustain me. Moon Lady is meant to reflect a woman's right to pursue knowledge, and peace of mind, body, and spirit.
