The Human Rights Office

Welcome to the website of the Queen's Human Rights Office, the central resource for human rights issues at Queen's University.

Our mandate

Our mandate is to ensure that the community's needs in the area of human rights are being addressed adequately. The Office reports annually to the Queen's community through an annual report to the Senate of the University. The Office will:

  • Promote human rights and address harassment and discrimination on the grounds of: race, ancestry, place of origin, colour, ethnic origin, citizenship, creed, sex, sexual orientation, age, marital status, disability and gender identity as well as analogous grounds;
  • Discuss, with any member of the community, issues of harassment and discrimination affecting their ability to access the learning, working or living environment.
  • Inform the community about their rights and responsibilities in the area of human rights
  • Assist community members looking for educational resources.
