Get a New Position Evaluated

When a Manager identifies the need for additional resources and obtains approval for a new position, he or she will provide HR Compensation with a draft job description.  Please use the Template Job Description to create your draft.  The Manager will also provide the following information:

  • The titles of any existing positions that are identical or similar to the new position
  • Whether the new position is a replacement for an employee in the unit/area
  • The anticipated start date for an employee, and whether a candidate has already been identified or if recruitment is needed

Send the above documentation to -- note 'Position Evaluation Request' in the Subject line.

Using the above information, an HR Compensation team member will work with the Manager to finalize the job description.  The position will be evaluated, and the assigned grade level will determine the hiring salary. HR Compensation will set up the position in PeopleSoft and email the approved job description, position number and hiring salary to the Manager.   The successful candidate cannot be hired into the system until HR Compensation creates the position in PeopleSoft.
