Early Expressions is a system of partner agencies that provides speech and language services to preschool children living in the KFL&A area. Early Expressions will accept referrals for children not yet eligible for senior kindergarten. Early Expressions is a service of the KFL&A Public Health.

Frontier College is Canada's original literacy organization. In Kingston, we recruit volunteers to work with learners in various literacy programs. We screen and train all of our volunteers before they go into the community.

Frontier College works with community-based groups and organizations to set up Reading Circles and volunteer tutoring programs for children. Frontier College runs nine Reading Circles for children in Kingston-area schools and libraries. Another Reading Circle is offered at a shelter for abused women and children.

The Learning Disabilities Association is a non-profit volunteer support group for people with learning disabilities, their families, and those who work or employ persons with learning disabilities. They provide information, support and resources for interested community members. The resource centre is located upstairs on the second floor at 417 Bagot St. and is generally open Monday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., or by appointment. It provides access to books, audio and videotapes, computer software, and more.

The Oxford Learning Centre provides remedial and enrichment education after school for several topics including reading, math, writing, and study skills. In addition, varius summer programs and camps are offered to elementary and secondary school students. The Centre is open Monday-Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Friday-Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
