Take Our Kids to Work Day is a national program organized by “The Learning Partnership” for Grade 9 students which many schools and employers across the country participate in. This program highlights the importance of education, skills development, and training while giving the Grade 9 students the opportunity to experience the world of work and the variety of career opportunities available to them.
Grade 9 students who participate in Take Our Kids to Work Day at Queen’s University will have the opportunity to job shadow their parent/legal guardian or sponsor for the day.
An on-line registration form must be completed for all Grade 9 students participating in Take Our Kids to Work Day at Queen’s University. Please click below to proceed with the registration form. Permission from your Department Head is required if you wish to participate in the job shadowing portion of Take Our Kids to Work Day. There are areas at the University that are off-limits to Grade 9 students for safety reasons, including:
Shops or areas with mechanical, electrical, or other physical hazards
High risk laboratories
Kitchens or food preparation areas
Shipping and receiving loading areas
Any other site identified by your supervisor or the Director, Environmental Health & Safety.
In addition, Grade 9 students are prohibited from using or handling hazardous materials and from operating motorized vehicles and power tools.
