Ph.D. Candidate Peter Rayls receives scholarship award

Peter Rayls is the inaugural recipient of the Royal Canadian Air Force Heritage Fund Keith Hodson Scholarship award worth $4,000. The Keith Hodson Scholarship award will be presented annually to a graduate student whose thesis focuses on an aspect of Canadian military aviation. Peter is a second-year PhD candidate currently conducting research for his dissertation that examines the personal relationships between Canadian and American air force officers during the early Cold War and how those relationships shaped the creation of the North American Air Defense Command (NORAD) and its early operations. Peter was also a recipient of a Clark-Yudkin Research Fellowship from The Friends of the Air Force Academy Library in Colorado Springs, Colorado. The grant of $4,600 allowed him to conduct research at the Academy’s McDermott Library this spring.
