When you make your appointment you will be asked the reason for seeing the doctor. This is to provide the appropriate amount of time for dealing with your problem.
Please be considerate of other patients by providing 24 hours cancellation notice when you are unable to keep your appointment. This will provide an opportunity for someone else to use that appointment time.
The Health Service is equipped with a voice mail system with accepts messages 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Please call 613 533-2506 and leave a message on the Cancellation Line.
Please Note: There is a $30.00 fee for
missed 10 minute appointments, and a $60.00 fee for missed 20 minute
appointments. There is a $90.00 fee for missed half hour appointments.
Most visits to the Health Service are covered by your provincial health insurance plan or, if you are from outside Canada, by UHIP. If you are not covered by one of these insurance plans, you will be required to pay for the visit at the time of the appointment.
You will be required to present your health card and student card at each visit. If you do not show your health card at each visit you may be asked to pay for your visit.
Quebec residents are required to complete forms at the time of each visit.

Because of the high volume of students seen at Queen’s Student Health Service, we are unable to contact everyone with every test result. In general terms, when test results arrive they are reviewed by the doctor who ordered the test; our nursing staff then contact patients if advised to do so by the ordering doctor. A plan for follow-up should have been discussed with you at your appointment, your test results are only one part of the management of your health concerns. Please make sure that you follow-up as directed by the clinic physician you have seen. Tests take varying amounts of time to be reported from two days to several weeks. Students are welcome to make an appointment to follow-up on the results of their diagnostic tests but results will not be provided to those who call the clinic for test results. There are important medico-legal reasons for not giving test results to those who call in asking for them. We appreciate your understanding of this policy.
