Pat Gal
asso (Arts'55/PHE’55) and his wife Jan (Arts‘59/PHE’60) truly appreciated how hard their parents worked to ensure that they could attend university. Thanks to their parents’ dedication and perseverance, both graduated from Queen’s with the knowledge and education they needed to pursue active and rich teaching careers.
The Galassos want to pay that forward. Today, their annual gifts and the life insurance policy that they’ve purchased for Queen’s honour their parents’ sacrifices while providing much-needed funds for academically gifted students in Physical and Health Education and Kinesiology who need financial support to reach their goals. Their gift has already made a difference to many students, and the philanthropic lessons they learned from their parents has been passed down to their own children, who contribute regularly to the Elliott/Galasso Entrance Award.
As a student enrolled in the School of Kinesiology, my main goals are to extend my knowledge in the field of kinetics and physiology. The funding I received from the Elliott/Galasso Entrance Award will greatly facilitate my learning experience. It allows me to worry less about financial instability, and focus more of my attention towards academics. - Pat Zalewski, PHE’14
