The German program offers two different Plans:

In addition to these degree programmes, you can also take one or more courses at the appropriate level as electives. We shall be glad to advise you where you will best fit in.

We offer instruction in a language and culture that are central to present-day Europe as well as to European history. We can inform you of several different ways of going to spend time in Germany, either to work or to study, and we can offer you some limited financial support to that end.

Certificate of Intermediate Competence in German Language

Students who are not registered in a GRMN Plan and who have successfully completed the first-, second- and third-year-level courses of language instruction in German-- i.e.:

  • GRMN 101/3.0 and GRMN 102/3.0
  • GRMN 201/3.0 and GRMN 202/3.0
  • 6.0 units from GRMN at the 300-level
-- with an overall average of at least a GPA of 2.90 on these courses are eligible for a certificate stating their intermediate competence in this area.
Note that this is not a Senate-approved Certificate Program and therefore will be noted as an Academic Milestone on the transcript. The Certificate will be issued by the Department of Languages, Literatures and Cultures on behalf of the Faculty of Arts and Science. An administrative fee of $35 will be charged ( beginning January 1, 2013)
