GACMAC Special Session In Honour of Dr. Ron Peterson

A special session titled: "Synthetic and natural minerals, from high- to low-temperature, from mines to mountaintops, from Earth to Mars", was held at the annual GACMAC meeting in London, ON  Friday Nov 5, 2021 in honour of Professor Ron Peterson. It was co-convened by Roberta Flemming, MSc'90, PhD'97, Lee Groat, BSc'82 (both former students of Ron’s)  and Bryan Chakoumakos (Ron's colleague from Virginia Polytechnical University). The session was hybrid, with some presentations in person and some presented virtually.

Three of Ron’s former PhD students were present – Roberta, Jenn Bentz, PhD'17 and Jennifer Anderson, MSc'02, PhD'07. Current and former colleagues (including Heather Jamieson) gave talks (and a few Ron stories) and the session culminated with a presentation from Ron himself on “What I Don’t Know about Sulphates”.

The session was a wonderful way to recognize Dr. Peterson's career and accomplishments.
