The new Queen’s Gazette features a re-imagined front page featuring sections that highlight major stories and priority initiatives, as well as important campus and community news.

The Queen’s Gazette website re-launched today with a new look and feel that incorporates modern design, improved navigation and searchability, greater accessibility, and an optimized desktop and mobile experience.

“As the campus community’s long-time source for news, the refreshed Queen’s Gazette will continue to bring readers important stories that highlight our strategic priorities and celebrate the impact of our research, as well as our global focus, outstanding educational experience, and many contributions to the local community,” says Michael Fraser, Vice-Principal (University Relations). “The functional enhancements of this new design, will help underscore our commitment to building a better future for people and the planet by deepening readers’ engagement with the stories that make us who we are.”

The new Queen’s Gazette features a re-imagined front page featuring topics selections that highlight major research stories and priority initiatives, as well as important campus and community news.

With new Editors’ Picks and Related Stories sections on article pages, users will be able to seamlessly engage with more of the latest stories and topics from across Queen’s. A new In The Media section has been added to highlight high-profile media appearances of Queen’s research experts and administrative leaders, and showcase media stories of interest about the university itself.

A new categorization and tagging system will allow the sorting of articles by a range of themes and topics, and an improved search engine optimization will improve the way users find stories and information they want to read or re-read.

The launch aligns the university’s main source for news with recently updated visual identity and brand architecture standards created to guide and support a unified and consistent Queen’s brand presence across all communications channels. It also follows the re-design of the university’s main website, which debuted in February 2023.

Refinement of the new Queen’s Gazette and its functionality will continue past its public launch, with teams monitoring user feedback and usage trends to ensure the best possible user experience.

All faculty and staff will continue to receive the latest stories from the site in the Queen’s Gazette email that arrives to inboxes three times a week.
