MEN'S HOCKEY

The Queen’s men’s hockey team (11-4-0) stormed back from an early two-goal deficit on the road to beat the No. 5 UQTR Patriotes (15-2-1) 4-3 on Friday.

Coming off the holiday break the Gaels gave up a pair of goal in the opening four minutes against the co-leaders in the OUA East standings.

However, the Gaels struck back in the second with goals from Spencer Abraham and Patrick McGillis. The Patriotes once again took the lead early in the third but goals from Harrison Hendrix and Eric Ming put the Gaels ahead for good.

The Gaels next take the ice when they host the Concordia Stingers on Friday and then face UQTR once again on Saturday.

MEN'S BASKETBALL

The Queen's Gaels men's basketball team started off the new year with a 70-61 exhibition loss to the CIS No. 3-ranked McGill Redmen on Saturday afternoon at the Athletics and Recreation Centre (ARC).

Sukhpreet Singh tallied a game-high 19 points, while Mike Shoveller added 11 in a losing cause for the Gaels. Noah Daust recorded a team-best 14 points for the Redmen.

The Gaels restart their regular season on the road this weekend as they face the University of Toronto on Friday and Ryerson on Saturday.
