Alfred Street closed between Union and Earl streets on Saturday

Alfred Street will be closed between Union Street and Earl Street on Saturday, Nov. 18 between 4 am and 6 pm while crews, working on behalf of Physical Plant Services, use a crane to remove two chillers and two cooling towers from the roof of Stauffer Library. Once these units are removed, the crew will then use the crane to lift two new chillers and cooling towers onto the roof of Stauffer Library.

Please note:

  • The Alfred Street public entrance and loading dock to Stauffer Library will be closed while this work is carried out.
  • All emergency exits from the public areas of the library will remain available for egress.
  • Some activity will encroach on the ground level patio at the southwest corner of the building. The public sidewalk along Union Street will remain available at all times.
  • Members of the crew will be dedicated to monitoring the work area and to directing passersby as required.

Consult attached hoist plan for a graphical reference of the above details.
