Universities announce their 2020 Schulich Leaders, winning $100,000 or $80,000 scholarships for undergraduate study

KINGSTON, ON, Sept. 1 – Ten students have been named Queen’s University recipients of the prestigious Schulich Leader Scholarship.

Out of a pool of 350,000 potential candidates across Canada, 1,400 students were nominated. This year, 100 students received this celebrated award, up from 50 in prior years.

All recipients were selected on the basis of their academic excellence, demonstrated leadership and entrepreneurial-minded focus in extra-curricular activities in their high schools and communities.

SIMON LONG is a recipient of the $80,000 Schulich Leader Scholarship. A graduate of Whistler Secondary School in Whistler, BC, Long will be entering the Bachelor of Computing (Honours): General Computing program this fall.

OLIVIA XU is a recipient of the $80,000 Schulich Leader Scholarship. A graduate of R.E. Mountain Secondary School in Langley, BC, Xu will be entering the Bachelor of Computing (Honours): General Computing program this fall.

ATNABON ETICHA is a recipient of the $80,000 Schulich Leader Scholarship. A graduate of Swift Current Comprehensive High School in Swift Current, SK, Eticha will be entering the Bachelor of Computing (Honours): General Computing program this fall.

NATHAN GERRYTS is a recipient of the $80,000 Schulich Leader Scholarship. A graduate of Smithville Christian High School in Wellandport, ON, Gerryts will be entering the Bachelor of Computing (Honours): General Computing program this fall.

LOUISE TURNER is a recipient of the $80,000 Schulich Leader Scholarship. A graduate of Centre Wellington District High School in Fergus, ON, Turner will be entering the Bachelor of Computing (Honours): General Computing program this fall.

SABRINA BUTTON is a recipient of the $100,000 Schulich Leader Scholarship. A graduate of A.Y. Jackson Secondary School in Kanata, ON, Button will be entering the Bachelor of Applied Science: General Engineering program this fall.

HAYLEY GALSWORTHY is a recipient of the $100,000 Schulich Leader Scholarship. A graduate of Waterdown District High School in Waterdown, ON, Galsworthy will be entering the Bachelor of Applied Science: General Engineering program this fall.

THEO LEMAY is a recipient of the $100,000 Schulich Leader Scholarship. A graduate of Georges P. Vanier Secondary in Courtenay, BC, Lemay will be entering the Bachelor of Applied Science: General Engineering program this fall.

CATHERINE DOUGLAS is a recipient of the $100,000 Schulich Leader Scholarship. A graduate of Granite Ridge Education Centre in Mountain Grove, ON, Douglas will be entering the Bachelor of Applied Science: General Engineering program this fall.

JULIA DYCK is a recipient of the $100,000 Schulich Leader Scholarship. A graduate of Mennonite Brethren Collegiate Institute in Winnipeg, MB, Dyck will be entering the Bachelor of Applied Science: Electrical and Computer Engineering program this fall.
