Dr. Colleen Davison is a Research Scientist and Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Department of Community Heath and Epidemiology at Queen’s University and the Clinical Research Centre at Kingston General Hospital. In the summer 2012, she taught Introduction to Health and Development DEVSC 201.1 as part of the online certificate program. She is teaching DEVS 393: Global Health and Development in the Fall 2012.
After a few years as a school-teacher in Nunavut and Japan, Dr. Davison did volunteer work with Habitat for Humanity and Youth Challenge International, completed a Masters degree in Public Health and became an intern at the WHO/PAHO in the Dominican Republic. Her PhD in the Department of Community Health and Epidemiology at the University of Calgary was an examination of macro-environmental change in northern Canada and how changes are impacting the education and employment pathways (and inevitably the health and community health) of northern indigenous youth. Dr. Davison now has research experience with projects in South Africa, Kenya, Uganda, Jamaica and Mongolia as well as projects focusing on health equity and disadvantage among young people in Canada.
Dr. Davison is an active member of the Canadian Coalition for Global Health Research, a past member of the Board of Directors of the Canadian Public Health Association and is a certified teacher with the Ontario College of Teachers. She lives with her husband and four children near Kingston, Ontario.
