The Certificate in Practical Experience aims to recognize the practical teaching experiences you have gained. The certificate will be awarded to applicants who demonstrate the ability to:

  • Participate in and compile feedback from a practical teaching experience that serves as an opportunity for practical skill development as an educator.
  • Analyze teaching feedback to evaluate the success of teaching practices.

To be awarded the Certificate in Practical Experience you must meet three requirements:

Part 1: Engage in a practical teaching experience

Part 2: Collect and analyze feedback on your teaching

Part 3 - Option 1: Compose a guided reflection


Part 3 - Option 2: Draft two sections of your Teaching Dossier: Teaching Responsibilities, and Teaching Effectiveness 

Submission Procedure

After completing the requirements of Part 1-3 as outlined in the links above, submit the following documents in hard copy to the CTL:

As you complete the requirements of the certificate, you may find the following  Certificate in Practical Experience Rubric  to be helpful. This rubric is used by CTL Staff to review and assess submissions.

Submissions are reviewed in the order they are received. Typically, applicants can expect to receive an email response to their submission within 10 business days following the submission date. Awarded certificates are made available for pick up at the front desk of the CTL. 

The CTL is located in F200 Mackintosh-Corry Hall.
