Financial Support for Graduate Students
Consideration for financial assistance is automatic upon receipt of the application for admission.
Internal funding for domestic funding-eligible Master’s students consists of three potential components:
- Queen's Graduate Awards (QGA): The amounts of these awards are variable.
- Teaching Assistantships: Suitably qualified graduate students are regularly offered positions as TA's. The salary for a full TAship for 2013-14 is set at $9,091.
- Other student funding: For 2013-14 the department offers (i) one R.S. McLaughlin Fellowship valued at $10,000 and (ii) one Graduate Entrance Tuition Award (GETA), valued at $ 6,258.
Bursaries are also available to qualified students.
In general, financial support for international students is similar to that of domestic students, but "other student funding" is limited to the International Tuition Award (ITA), valued at $5,000 for 2013-14; only one ITA is available for 2013-14.
The department offers travel awards to qualified graduate and upper year undergraduate students.Full-time graduate students are also eligible to apply for a conference award each year.
