The second year curriculum is common to all options, but prior to or during the second year, students select from the following options for their third year: General (ME1), which allows students to select technical electives from a variety of specialized areas of study; Materials (ME2), which includes courses in materials and metallurgical engineering; or Biomechanical (ME3), which includes courses in the biomechanical field.
Students are encouraged to participate in international design competition teams such as the Mostly Autonomous Sailboat Team (MAST), Baja SAE Design Team, Formula SAE Team, SAE Aero Design Team or the Solar Design Team.
