The second section of the introduction to film course, this course looks at global cinemas from the modern period, examining the evolution of the Hollywood block buster and high concept film and moving to a look at international cinema movements. This course examines the contemporary cinemas of England, Scotland, France, Japan and South Korea, and explores theories of authorship, semiotics and film and philosophy.
