ARTH 222/3.0 Impressionism and Post-Impressionism in London and Paris

This course has its field studies in London and Paris. Students will visit the famous Impressionist art gallery, the Musée D’Orsay, in Paris and in London The Impressionist rooms of the National Gallery and the Courtauld Institute. The course has no pre-requisites so is equally suitable for those studying art history and also for students who wish to take this course as an elective. Students will be studying Manet and the art of the Second Empire, the paintings of Impressionist modernity by Monet, Degas and Renoir and the Post-Impressionist avant-gardes of Van Gogh, Cézanne and Gauguin.
