Within the castle there are multiple spaces available for common use. Sometimes you will be required to sign out a key from reception. However, the Green Room is always open and has work tables, bean bag chairs, and a white a board.

Bader Hall has several common spaces that students can access at any time. C1 and C0 are the biggest lounges and house a TV, DVD player, and VCR. They have several sofas, chairs, and a table. C1 has a kitchenette adjoined to it.

A1 and A2 lounges can be accessed by professors and a students living in Bader Hall. Available 24 hours a day, with ample seating at individual study carrels, access to PCs, printing and photocopying facilities and newspapers, the Library Reading Room is a great place to study. In the adjacent room of the library there is a common work table space that is great for group meetings. Access to this area is only available during the library hours.<

The Media Lab

The Media Lab is located on the Lower Ground Floor of the Castle. To get there, exit Castle Reception and head towards Chestnuts. Turn right towards the Garden gate. On your right-hand side go down the steps to the large wooden door. Use appropriate key (if the door is locked) to open, and then use the keycode to open the interior door. The Media Lab is the second door on the right-hand side – use the second key to open the door.

You can book out the Media Lab by signing up on the sheet outside the Media Lab door. To access the media lab please sign out the keys from Castle Reception (7:30am – 11pm, Monday to Friday, and 9am – 6pm Weekends).

Computer Labs

There are three computer sites for students at the BISC: two in Bader Hall and one in the Castle. These are available for your use 24 hours a day. All computers are linked to the BISC Network and the Internet. A laser printer is available at each site and there is a scanner for student use.

Headless Drummer

The Headless Drummer Pub has a fully licensed bar, and is located on the ground floor of the Castle. On occasion, special events are held in the pub, including theme nights, and there is also a coin-operated pool table and an assortment of games available for student use. You should note that the legal drinking age in England is 18. If you are 16-17, you may still go into a pub, but you cannot purchase alcohol nor have it purchased for you. This rule is strictly enforced at the Castle.
