Position Advertisement: Archaeological Intern
We are delighted to announce an opening for an Archaeological Intern at Queen’s University Bader International Study Centre. The internship will run from May 1, 2014 to July 1, 2014.
Based at the historic Herstmonceux Castle, Queen’s Bader International Study Centre offers a six week field school in British Archaeology that includes in-class instruction, field studies to some of Britain’s best archaeological sites and two weeks of excavation.
The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting the field school director in the running of the programme. This includes the organization of, and participation in, field study trips, the development of information packs for sites visited, assisting with the excavation and post-excavation processing of artefacts, taking photos and archival work cataloguing finds.
The internship is a full-time, un-paid fixed term position. The internship comes with full room and board. Only full-time students for whom this internship aligns with their major course work at university should apply.
• Strong interest or experience in history and archaeology
• Experience working on an archaeological excavation
• Experience leading groups of students
• Design and photography skills
• Excellent organizational skills
• Previous attendance at the BISC
• Experience conducting research and working with archival materials
