The BISC has a strong emphasis on interdisciplinary learning throughout its programs and field schools.
We offer upper year Interdisciplinary Studies courses that are exclusive to the BISC, and our unique first year program encourages students to think beyond traditional disciplinary boundaries and make links between different areas of knowledge while, at the same time, providing the necessary foundation in each discipline. Interdisciplinary learning is promoted for Castle students because it encourages networked thinking and develops academic self-consciousness about the strengths and limits of thinking only within one framework.
The leaders of the future will need to be able to synthesize a vast amount of information from various sources in order to make decisions and solve problems. The BISC's innovative teaching methods ensure that our students are prepared to meet this challenge.
