A paper published by 3 Queen's scientists and a Queen's alumnus has been awarded the Cowles Award from the biogeography group of the Association of American Geographers.

The Cowles Award goes to the best book or journal article published in the previous year on the general topic of biogeography.

Mike Pisaric  is a Professor at Carleton and a former Queen’s student. Joshua Thienpont  is a PhD student in John Smol's lab and co-led the paper. Holly Nesbitt was a 4th year thesis student in the Smol lab.
The paper has received much media attention.
