Claims of inadequacy on inclusive fitness theory are challenged by a multi-authored communication in Nature that includes Queen's faculty and postdoc.A recent paper published in Nature (M. A. Nowak, C. E. Tarnita & E. O. Wilson. Nature 466, 1057–1062 (2010)) claimed that inclusive fitness theory has done little to enhance our understanding the natural world, and particularly the evolution of eusociality. A number of researchers including Troy Day and Peter Taylor (Math & Stats; cross-appointed to Biology), Bob Montgomerie (Biology), and postdoc Andy Gardner are co-authors on a Nature paper that takes Nowak et al. to task on their assertions in a riposte published in a recent Brief Communication in Nature .
