Significant algal blooms possibly caused by reduced calcium and diminution in grazing Daphnia.PhD student Jennifer Korosi, and co-authors John Smol, doctoral candidate Joshua Thienpont and undergraduate student Samantha Burke report that algal blooms could be caused by reduced calcium and resulting loss in grazing Daphnia. The paper is to be published in the next issue of the prestigious international journal Proceedings of the Royal Society B.
