Recently, many of the botanical reference books previously kept in the Fowler Herbarium were relocated to the Douglas Science Library and included in the general collections. However, unique books and documents of particular value (historic or otherwise) have been placed in the Special Collections section (Fowler Herbarium) and are available only by special request. There are also books of direct relevance to day-to-day herbarium work remaining in the Fowler Herbarium. These can borrowed from the herbarium after contacting the librarian at Douglas (this may take a day or so) and can be picked up in the Biology Office. The borrower must present proper identification and leave their address and telephone number. All regulations and fines for normal library books apply to herbarium books. Individuals from other universities may request books through Interlibrary Loans. Members of the public may use books while visiting the herbarium. Please contact the Associate Curator, Dale Kristensen to make arrangements (contact information below).
Students and Faculty from Queen's University can view specimens in the herbarium by contacting the Associate Curator. Specimen loans to other institutions must be arranged in writing through the curator of your local herbarium. Please address loan requests to:
