This week, Queen’s University celebrated the centenary of the birth of the late Dr. Alfred Bader, BSc’45, BA’46, MSc’47, LLD’86. Dr. Bader’s connection to Queen’s spanned more than 70 years, starting with his arrival as an undergraduate student in November of 1941. Though a chemist by training, Dr. Bader was not only a successful entrepreneur, but a renowned art collector and philanthropist. In the Department of Art History and Art Conservation, Dr. Bader supported a Chair in Northern Baroque Art and a Chair in Southern Baroque Art. He provided numerous other philanthropic gifts to support students, including the Bader Doctoral Fellowship.
