Sue Bates, Artsci'91
Executive Vice President,
Volunteer Recruitment and Recognition

[Photo of Sue Bates]A native of Kingston, Sue graduated from Queen's in 1991 and immediately moved across the pond and settled in Scotland, after seven years moving to the Bahamas for three years, followed by four years in the Turks and Caicos Islands. With each move, Sue connected with the Alumni Association, serving as Branch Contact.

Sue returned to Kingston in 2005, bringing with her a commitment to community, particularly Queen’s University. Sue has volunteered with the QUAA Kingston Branch since her return, having served most recently as Branch President. As Past President, Sue Chairs the Padre Laverty & Jim Bennett Awards Selection committee. Outside of her involvement with the QUAA, Sue also serves as a University Councilor, and as the Alumni Representative to both SOARB (Senate Orientation Activities Review Board) and University Council on Athletics & Recreation. Sue can often be found decked out in tricolour, cheering on her beloved Gaels. When not volunteering her time with Queen's and various Kingston organizations, Sue works as an assistant to a financial advisor, a job she loves.
