Excitement builds for Homecoming 2013

Following Principal Woolf's recent announcement about the reinstatement of Homecoming in fall 2013, many classes and groups have already confirmed their plans to return to campus in October.

"It's still early in the planning process, and we anticipate receiving many more confirmations in the coming weeks," says Carey Morrison, Alumni Officer, Reunions.

Rather than the traditional single celebratory weekend, Homecoming 2013 will be held on two different weekends to better accommodate the needs of returning alumni.

October 4-6 marks the occasion for 5, 15, 25, 35, and 45 year reunions, while October 18-20 is reserved for 10, 20, 30, 40, 50 year and Tricolour Guard reunions.

Both weekends will blend familiar university traditions – including home football games – with fresh and innovative programming for alumni, students and members of the Kingston community. This new programming will also include special celebrations for the Class of 1988 whose 25th anniversary falls in 2013.

Classes that have confirmed for the first weekend include Arts'68, Artsci'78, and Artsci'08; Law'68, Law'78, and Law'88; MBA'88; Meds'68, Meds'78, and Meds'88; PHE'78; and Sc'68, Sc'88, Sc'98, and Sc'08.

Classes that have confirmed for the second weekend include Arts'53, Arts'63, Arts'73, Artsci'83, and Artsci'93; Law'63, Law'73, Law'83, and Law'03; Mus'73; Meds'53, Meds'58, Meds'63, and Meds'83; PHE'53, PHE'63, and PHE'83; Rehab'83; Sc'53, Sc'63, Sc'73, Sc'78, Sc'83, Sc'93, and Sc'03.

Other reunions currently in the planning stages include special athletics reunions and the Department of English's 125th anniversary. The programming for both Homecoming weekends will be finalized in March 2013.

Classes whose graduating year ends in a "3" or an "8" who don't have reunions planned or an official reunion coordinator are encouraged to contact the reunions team for assistance.
