Arts, Commerce and PHE ’58 Reunion


Dear ’58 classmate:

After a regrettable interval of a few years, Queen’s has restored the tradition of fall reunions in time for the 55th anniversary of our graduation. We are looking forward to the opportunity of reconnecting with old friends and of seeing the campus which has evolved with many attractive new buildings but which retains its traditional beauty and charm.

Alumni volunteers, students, and staff have worked with partners in the Kingston Community to create a series of events to celebrate and welcome us and our fellow alumni. A general outline of the events of the weekend is available here.

The Tricolour Guard Reunion bundle, which is $157 for alumni and $109 for guests, includes:

  • Special Registration packages [alumni package only]
  • Bus Service from hotel to campus throughout the weekend, and to and from the football game on Saturday
  • Tricolour Guard Reception and Dinner hosted by the Principal
  • Class photos (taken during the Tricolour Guard Reception) [alumni package only]
  • Ticket to the Football Game (Queen’s vs. Guelph)
  • Alumni reunion year pin [alumni package only]

Please note that the registration fees are per person.

Registration/check-in occurs at Grant Hall starting at midday on Friday, October 18. That evening, for members of Arts/Commerce/PHE 58, we are having a reception and dinner atCataraqui Golf and Country Club [King Street West opposite Ontario Hospital in Portsmouth]. Cash bar from 6:00 pm and dinner at 7:00 pm. Reservations must be made through Bob Little, separate from your central weekend registration through Queen’s. To reserve your spot for the dinner, please send a cheque [$50 per person] to:

Highlights on Saturday include the following:


9:00–10:00 am:  Queen’s School of Business Tricolour pre-brunch Reception at Goodes Hall, hosted by Dean David M. Saunders (RSVP: alumni@business.queensu.ca or 613-533-6264)

10:00 am–noon:  Queen’s School of Business Brunch and tour of Goodes Hall hosted by Dean Saunders [RSVP: alumni@business.queensu.ca or 613-533-6264]

10 am, 11 am, 3 pm and 4 pm:  Tours of the new Athletic and Recreation Centre [Contact Jennifer Butchart at jennifer.butchart@queensu.ca to register for a tour - group tours are also available.]

1:00 pm:  Queen’s Gaels vs University of Guelph at Richardson Stadium, West Campus.  [Bus transportation and tickets provided through the Tricolour Guard Reunion bundle, as mentioned above]

6:00–9:00 pm:  Tricolour Guard Reception and Dinner at Ban Righ Hall. This will provide an opportunity to meet with friends from all faculties and senior administrators of Queen’s. [Tricolour Guard includes members of all classes celebrating reunions of 50 years or more]

Accommodation: Queen’s has booked for the Tricolour Guard a block of rooms at the Holiday Inn on the downtown waterfront. To reserve, call the hotel directly at 613-549-8400 and book a room under the Queen’s Tricolour Guard Block, booking code TCG. Remember that available accommodation may fill up well before the reunion weekend so make your reservation early to avoid disappointment.

University records indicate that there are about 160 “active” members of our year. The reunion website provides an opportunity for returnees to indicate their attendance and enable everyone to know which particular friends are planning to be there.
