Reunion Plans: October 18-20 2013

September 2013

Dear MEDS 73 Classmate,

You still have time to register for Queen’s Homecoming 2013, where we will celebrate our 40 year reunion on the weekend of October 18-20. Consider this your last reminder to register for Homecoming Weekend - have a look at the “Who’s Coming” list to see all your classmates that will be there as well, and then get your name on that list by registering! All the central events that are being planned are listed on that website as well, and there’s a lot to choose from.

A reminder that our class is staying at COURTYARD MARRIOT (103 Dalton Ave, Kingston).  If you still need to reserve a room for Friday and Saturday night, you can call the Courtyard Marriott directly at 613-548-7000 (unfortunately the 800 number won’t work!) and mention booking code “MEDS 73” for a special rate of $152 + tax/night.  The hold on the block of rooms has been extended but will be released on SEPT 25/13, so if you still require accommodation, book SOON!

In addition to the centrally-planned events, we will be getting together …likely for a dinner with time to catch up Fri &/or Sat evening…the planning is still fluid and once we have all those who have registered…. we will finalize plans with those coming!

Also, the Faculty of Health Sciences is hosting these events which we are invited to participate in:
•    Faculty of Health Sciences Alumni Reception hosted by Dean Reznick
Friday, October 18th from 4:30 pm to 6:00 pm in the School of Medicine Building, 15 Arch Street. Please RSVP by October 4th to Jan Devonshire by email or by calling 800-267-7837 ext. 78422.

•    Continuing Professional Development Symposium for Alumni
Saturday, October 19th from 8:00 am to 10:30 am in the School of Medicine Building, 15 Arch Street. CFPC MainPro-M1 credits & receipts will be provided. For more information and to register online please visit the CPD webpage or email the Office of Continuing Professional Development or call 800-267-7837 ext. 78422.

•    Tour of the new School of Medicine Building
Saturday, October 19th at 10:30 am (immediately following the CPD Symposium). To reserve your spot on the tour please RSVP by October 4th to Jan Devonshire by email or by calling 800-267-7837 ext. 78422.

In a future letter, we will also be providing you all with an update on our class fund, the Meds ’73 Bursary, which we established following our 30th reunion. The Bursary is awarded on the basis of financial need to undergraduate students in any year in the School of Medicine in the Faculty of Health Sciences. In the meantime, should you want more information on the Fund or how to donate please email David Youngin the Office of Advancement or call 1-800-267-7837 ext. 75607.

And if you haven’t already done so, buy your tickets for Saturday’s football game online. Tickets are expected to sell out, so don’t miss out on this Homecoming tradition! After you purchase the tickets online, print them out and bring them along with you, because that is what will let you into the stadium. (Don’t forget to wear your tricolour, bring your banners, and be ready for the half-time parade!)

When you arrive on campus, either on Friday afternoon or Saturday morning, be sure to check in at Grant Hall to pick up your reunion pin, and your Homecoming weekend program booklet. Then look around for your classmates – we’ll be looking for you!

REALLY looking forward to seeing as many as can make it….remember it’s only ~172,800 seconds to CELEBRATE 40 YEARS!!

Cha Gheill!!
