It’s Our 50th Reunion!  Let’s celebrate!

50th Reunion – Com ’64 Class Representatives

Sandy Reynolds                 Dave Garth                               Glen Davison

Here we were at our 45th Reunion in 2009.  Good-looking group!

Before we know it, October 17-19, 2014 and our 50th Reunion will be here marking a major milestone for all us.  Our goal is to have as many of our classmates return to campus for this special Reunion as possible.

So far, 18 are planning to come and 3 more are “maybe’s” out of a class of 28 possible.  This is fantastic!

Com ’64 Specifics

Plans are well under way.  Here are a few more details.

  • Friday 17th evening Meet & Greet – As in past reunions, your Classes of ’64 Reunion Planning Committee is a combined one, representing the following classes of ’64: Commerce, Science, Arts & Sci, and Phys Ed.  All grads and guests of these classes are invited to our Friday evening gathering in the Island View Ballroom at the Holiday Inn on the Waterfront, 7:00 pm to midnight.  Cash Bar and finger food.

  • Saturday 18th QSB Brunch – The QSB provides a brunch from 10:00 am to noon at Goodes Hall, 143 Union St., complementary by registration.  The brunch will include an update from Dean Saunders, class giving cheque presentations and tours of Goodes Hall.  (See Tricolour Guard Registration below.)

  • The Arts & Commerce ’64 banner is ready for our half-time march at the football game.

  •   Official Class Photo prior to Saturday Tricolour Guard dinner.  Details to follow.
  • Saturday 18th dinner is the Tricolour Guard Dinner with all the other classes, 50 years and over, by registration.  We will not be having a separate dinner of our own.  (See Tricolour Guard Registration below.)

  • Sunday 19th Com ’64 Brunch will be hosted by Greg and Beth at their home – so plan to stay for it.  This is a special treat!  Their detailed invitation to you was in your 2nd mailing received late May.  Remember to RSVP!

Class Communication

  • By now, you should have received two mailings, one mid-February and one at the end of May.  If Queen’s had your email address, you received it by email.  If not, it was mailed Canada Post.  Unfortunately, a few of you were missed in February.  So you will have to act quickly to get accommodation.

  • Because we are now Tricolour Guard, our official Registration is through Queen’s this year (see below).  But your committee needs to know what you are planning, too.  So, if you haven’t checked in with me already, please email me at

  • Keep up-to-date with our plans by checking this Com’64 website.  You are also welcome to email any of us – see above.  Our phone numbers are also on your 2nd mailing.

  • Final Reunion communication will be in September, by email only.

  • Accommodation is scarce but there are some rooms available.  See your May mailing for details of these hotels.  Book as soon as possible.

  • Keep in mind that, usually a month before Homecoming, the blocks that have been set aside for any groups will expire and be made available to the public to book on an individual, room-by-room basis. We definitely encourage you to book a room somewhere as early as possible, but remember also that you can call hotels that might have been higher on your preferred-list on September 17 to see if there are any rooms that are available.

Official Tricolour Guard Registration is IMPORTANT!

The link above is where you register with Queen’s for many of your weekend activities.

  • Your weekend Tricolour Guard package can be built by selecting from a number of components. There is a Base package including photo nametag, class photos, 50-Year pin and shuttle bus service.   To that you can add components.

  • Saturday Tricolour Reception and Dinner.  Put “Com’64” as your seating preference at the dinner to sit with other Com ’64 classmates.  If you wish to set up a specific table of eight, then select one name as your group head and each person registering, insert that name as your seating preference.

  • Order your football tickets

  • Register for the complementary QSB Saturday Brunch

  • Verify your email address to facilitate future communication.

  • View the list of who has already registered.  Take a look!

Faculty of Arts 1964 Class Directory – Your Personal Update

In the years since we graduated, Jane Clapp, our class librarian, has maintained a unique Directory of all the 1964 graduates of the Faculty of Arts including Commerce.  There is a separate page for each of you with your grad photo on it.  Updates have been applied to your page as you have sent them to us. This leather-bound book is brought to each reunion so that those in attendance can look up current and past information on fellow classmates.  Each one of you is a part of this evolving story.

We would like to continue to update this Directory.  Whether you plan to attend our 50th Reunion or not, would you please go to your May email to access the Directory Information Form, complete it and send it to Jane Clapp.  Instructions are on the form.

Consider giving back to the Queen’s School of Business

It has become a tradition, for the class having its 50th anniversary, to assemble a class gift for the School of Business.  Some time ago, members of Com'64 established the  BCom'64 Endowment Fund .  Last year, the interest from our Fund, along with a top-up from Queen's, was able to support the Commerce '64 Fellow of Managerial Economics .  For this special year, our goal is to increase the capital base of the Fund to make it self-supporting.

Our QSB Class Giving Coordinators are Milt Hess and Wayne Musselman.   They will be communicating the details of this project by separate mailing.  You may also make your donation now online at BCom'64 Endowment Fund .

    Queen’s Websites

If you have questions about Homecoming weekend in general, contact the Queen’s Reunions Team at or go to the central Queen's Homecoming 2014 page, which will be updated continuously.  Be sure to bookmark it and follow @queensualumni and @QSB on Twitter and Facebook.
