What is it like to work in Advancement at Queen's?

Our staff work to build support for the university. As a result, you will find that the staff are enthusiastic supporters of Queen's and each other. The work environment is professional and some jobs involve more work on campus while others involve a great deal of travel to engage with alumni and key benefactors.

Where is Advancement located at Queen's?

Staff in the department are spread throughout campus. Our main buildings are Fleming Hall (home of Marketing & Communications), Summerhill (home of Alumni Relations and Development) and the Old Medical Building (home of Advancement Services and Development staff). Other Advancement staff are found in the faculties and schools they support.

What should I do if I cannot find an advancement opportunity on the Human Resources website that matches my skills?

You are always welcome to submit your resume to Advancement. Please contact one of our four Executive Directors (Marketing & Communications, Development, Advancement Services and Alumni Relations) to let them know you are interested in Queen's.

Does Advancement provide support for ongoing education and training?

Yes, we believe in ongoing education, training and learning. Many of our staff take courses at Queen's, through their professional associations and through other higher learning organizations. Others work towards their accreditation or professional designations within their field. Advancement supports all of these pursuits.

What compensation and benefits can I expect working in Advancement?

Is there someone I can talk to about career opportunities in Advancement?

What is the organizational structure in Advancement?

Our Vice-Principal, Advancement, reports directly to the Principal & Vice-Chancellor. Reporting to the VP are four Executive Directors and the VP's Executive Assistant. Our units are organized under those Executive Directors (Alumni Relations, Advancement Services, Development, and Marketing), while the Executive Assistant leads the VP's office staff.
