At Queen's, our welcoming living and learning environments offer students the programs and services needed to be successful. Of course, students still look to their parents or guardians for guidance.

These pages are designed to provide you, Queen's parents and guardians, with information and resources to empower your student to succeed, both academically and personally, at Queen's.

Important Dates


  • August 1: Final transcripts due for undergraduate students from outside Ontario
  • August 3: Civic Holiday (university closed)
  • August 10: Final date for awards posted to student accounts in SOLUS
  • August 15: APA requests due for students not paying fall tuition and SAL by Sept. 1
  • August 26: Recommended deadline for fall tuition to ensure receipt by Sept. 1
  • August 31-September 17: Student ID Card validation open for returning students
  • Mid-late August: Room assignments are given for students in residence


  • September 1: Fall Tuition and Student Assistance Levy due in full
  • September 6: Move-in Day for incoming students starts at 8 am (Also, plan to attend a Parent Information Session)
  • September 6-13: Orientation Week
  • September 7: Labour Day (university is closed)
  • September 14: Fall Term classes begin
  • September 25: Last date to add/drop classes without financial penalty
  • September 30: AMS opt out period ends for Student Activity Fees and Health and Dental Coverage
  • September 30: Total student account balance due (fall term residence fees, Student Activity fees, UHIP)

Sessional dates:

  • When making travel plans, be sure to check the sessional dates specific to your student's faculty/school.
  • Academic calendars provide additional information on regulations, policies, programs, courses and degree requirements; or visit your student's faculty site for more details.
