Queen’s University sports psychology expert David Hancock is available to talk about the eight Olympic badminton players who have been kicked out of the games for intentionally losing their matches to secure an easier draw.

“The badminton federation rules state that any sort of misconduct is not allowed. And the Olympic values are about respect and fair play. So under these circumstances, these players failed to meet those values,” says Dr. Hancock, a former high school badminton player.

Dr. Hancock is a post-doctoral fellow in the PLAYS Lab (Performance Lab for the Advancement of Youth in Sports) in the Queen’s University School of Kinesiology and Health Studies.
