Gunman kills 12 in Denver movie theater: Queen's University professor
Queen’s University criminology expert Vincent Sacco is available to comment on the mass shooting in a movie theatre in Aurora, Colorado. James Holmes is accused of killing 12 people and wounding another 58 during a showing of The Dark Knight Rises.
Dr. Sacco interests relate to the study of public perceptions of and reactions to crime. His work emphasizes the study of "criminal events.” He also examines the ways in which particular images of crime problems are socially constructed, the roles which mass media play in this process and the motivation of the offender.
Please note Dr. Sacco is only available for phone interviews after 3 pm Monday, July 23.
