University seeks input on Climate Action Plan
The university is taking action on reviewing its carbon footprint and developing a climate action plan (CAP). Community members are invited to provide their feedback on possible options for mitigating the university’s greenhouse gas emissions at an upcoming public forum.
“The input of students, faculty and staff will be instrumental in shaping our climate action plan and sustainability goals,” says Principal Daniel Woolf. “I committed to this goal when I signed the University and College Presidents’ Climate Change Statement of Action for Canada, and I commend our community on our progress so far.”
An advisory committee including faculty, staff and students is working closely with representatives from Delphi Group to create the CAP. It will include:
• A summary of the current campus greenhouse gas inventory;
• Greenhouse gas emission projections;
• Goals and strategies to reduce emissions;
• Mechanisms to track progress on goals and actions.
Regular updates on the CAP process are posted on the Queen’s Sustainability website and Twitter account. Community members can engage in conversations about strategy options on the Queen’s Sustainability Facebook page.
Complete details of the community forum have been posted online.
